I have a technique I call “20/20 Foresight™.” It’s a pre-visualization technique that I developed while zoning out in the early stages of Zen training. You close your eyes and imagine something you want to have but don’t have yet. You see it in all its details, and you make it as virtually real as possible. I remember once, as a kid, imagining myself in a coin-op Laundromat, walking through the entrance and actually reading the business cards and ads thumb-tacked to the corkboard.
I never said I was very ambitious.
The more I practiced the technique, the better I got at it. And the amazing thing is, I think this is the reason my life has this fantasy-like quality. It’s because I trained myself to daydream ...
