Apps are what make smartphones so smart, and this chapter is dedicated to them. I cover how to buy apps from Amazon’s Appstore, then I show you how to install apps from places other than Amazon’s store. The rest of the chapter covers a few of the stock apps included on your Fire: Maps, Clock, and Calculator.
Amazon Appstore
The Amazon Appstore is the first place to look for Fire apps (10.1). Amazon has approved all of them, so you can be sure they won’t do anything malicious to your phone. Plus, Amazon gives away a free app every day, which is a great way to dip your toe into the Appstore without spending any money.
