I believe this book presents a very good picture of the professional service industry, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to interview the impressive firm leaders who participated in our study.

But as I step back to review the manuscript, I realize that we’ve really only scratched the surface of this fascinating business. There are so many more firms to study, topics to examine, and examples to present. About six months before finishing the initial draft, I told anyone who made the mistake of asking how it was going that I would never write another book. But just like childbirth, the pain fades, and my next book on the industry is brewing in my head.
