WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The term ‘emotional intelligence’ was popularised by Daniel Goleman in1995. There are numerous different models and measures of emotional intelligence, but essentially they all boil down to the same thing: an ability to understand and deal with your emotions and those of people around you.
Emotional intelligence is often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient, or EQ for short. EQ describes an ability, capacity or skill to perceive, assess and manage the emotions of one’s self, of others and of groups.
