7Jungle Gym versus a Ladder

You never know when someone will come into your life who will care as much as you do, stand for the same things you believe, and work just as hard as you to make them happen. These unexpected angels cause you to pinch yourself and say, Wait, we really are in this together. That's why my mom always says to me, “Treat people right. We never know who we'll meet along the journey, but we just treat everyone right.”
I met Chidinma Asonye, COO of S by Serena, on a BeautyUnited videoconference during COVID. We quickly connected offline as two of the few Black women to oversee and operate two of the most recognizable A-List Black female celebrities' companies. She was one of my first YESes when I asked her to join the advisory board of BrainTrust Founders Studio and later became an early investor in our BrainTrust Fund. Chidinma joined me to talk about will versus skill on season 1 of my podcast. She shared her journey from Wall Street to beauty to fashion and believes that there is not one right way to be a leader.
