ANNUAL BOOK TO FEATURE THE BEST OF
DIGITAL DESIGN IN NEWS MEDIA. The Society has
recognized the top work in this field for 10 years.
This year, we expanded the number of categories
and platforms, and drew a record number of
entries.
We are grateful for the hard work done by
Competition Coordinator Ryan Sparrow, and to Ball
State University for hosting what is now an annual
judging weekend in February.
Besides Ryan, this endeavor could not have
transpired without the assistance and programming
hours put in by Joey Marburger of The Washington
Post and Yuri Victor of the San Diego Union-
Tribune.
And a special thank you to Laura Ruel of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who
led the pioneering efforts to get the multimedia
competition launched a decade ago and has stayed
involved since.
The work on the following pages is awe-inspiring
and makes a bold statement for the power of
design on any platform. We see an incredible
future unfolding both in print and online, and look
forward to continuing the journey together.
