The world came down with a severe case of Harry Potter fever this year, when author J.K. Rowling released the seventh and last book in her wildly popular series about the bespectacled wizard and his wily magical escapades. The fifth Potter film was also released to coincide with the new book, but for once, it seemed children preferred the written word. The Web buzzed with speculation over the bloody ending to the 700+ page tome, children and their parents waited for hours for copies, and cartoonists drew nonstop to keep up with the hype.
