Chapter 1. Co-Workers from the Sun
The sun! Hard to imagine life without it, isn’t it? In fact, there would be no life without it; it is warm, nurturing, and life-giving. Of course, it would kill us if we could not get away from it from time to time; the shadow is a cool and refreshing change of pace. Nightfall is a natural and necessary counterpart to the sunny day. And just as we cannot live our lives only in the sunshine, if we lived only in the dark, we would soon die as well. A theme we will see over and over in this book is that it is essential to strike a balance between two extremes, even if we have a preference for one over the other.
