CHAPTER 5: RIGHTS OF CONSUMERS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE BUSINESS

The CCPA outlines several requirements that apply to a “business.” Collectively, this is the operational impact of the CCPA. Although these are often listed as consumer rights, they also impose obligations on a business to allow consumers to exercise those rights.

There are three consumer rights:

1. Right of access – a right to have the business disclose various pieces of information related to the data processing92

2. Right to opt-out – a right to request that a business that sells personal information to third parties no longer sell the consumer’s personal information93
