Composition
We all use composition in some way in our every day lives: when we decorate a cake, arrange books on a bookshelf, choose an outfit, place our furniture, even when we serve up dinner.
Much of the time, using composition is inherent—we don’t think about it, we just do it. If one candlestick on the mantel seems off balance, we add a second one on the opposite side, to create symmetry. We might anchor the candlestick with a small vase, to give weight to the arrangement, or add more candlesticks, to provide repetition. We use the same principles to design a card.
