Today, China is the second largest economy in the world, and it stands poised to become the largest. The country is on track for a transformation to an economic model based largely on domestic consumption and on services. China has more than US$ 3.2 trillion in foreign reserves. By the year 2025, the Chinese government plans to build 221 cities with more than one million inhabitants, and another eight hyper-modern megacities which would be home to more than 10 million people.
