Fear of the unknown is the worst kind, or so it is said. But at least when we’re dealing with the unknown, there’s always the chance of a happy ending because unknowns sometimes turn out bad and other times good. So it might seem logical that in a sensible world fear of the unknown will trump fear of the horrible certainty hands down. And you might suppose that fear will diminish once the outcome is known.
