Introduction
Management, conservation and governance of biodiversity and landscapes often follow global values and standards. The relations between commons such as forests, wildlife, water and local communities is often redefined in that context. International conservation NGOs are among the carriers of these global values and standards, particularly when they are applied to protected areas in the Global South. In this regard, the work of the African Parks Foundation (APF)1 in Nech Sar National Park (Nech Sar NP) is an interesting example (see Figure 19.1).
