The noted anthropologist Margaret Mead was once quoted as saying, “No matter how many communes anybody invents, the family always creeps back.” There does seem to be some truth in that statement. Maybe having people connected to us by blood or bound by a legal document is a deep-seated survival strategy. Perhaps it's a biological need to procreate. Whatever it is, something draws many people to marriage and children. Despite the attraction, however, good old procrastination often gets in the way.
