One of the games I loved as a kid was Chutes and Ladders. In the game, your goal was to wind your way up a path on the game board. If you landed on a ladder, you were allowed to skip ahead a few levels. If you landed on chute, which looked like a big slide, you had to go back down a few levels.
A few spaces before you reached the finish line, there was a giant chute that took you almost all the way back to the starting line.
