Understanding Real Property Law Basics
In This Chapter
• What is real property?
• Real property ownership
• Liability to third parties
• Transferring real property by deed
• Understanding landlord-tenant law
Real property consists of the land and structures on that land. Then there are the integrated equipment and anything grown on the land. Oh, and don’t forget the mineral rights and possibly air rights. That about covers it. Real property is a complex system of law that controls the ownership and transfer of ownership of land, structures, etc. This layered complexity has caused some to call property rights a bundle of rights.
This chapter will explore those complexities and break them down into understandable chunks.
