The real complete idiot is the camera. Unlike humans, cameras cannot make mental adjustments (for example, when looking at a book under yellowish reading light, humans can mentally adjust to perceive it like white paper). Adjustments of color are based on our cumulative experience (in this example, we know that books are usually printed on white paper). The camera, however, has no mind, and is unable to make mental adjustments. Therefore, we need to force the camera to reproduce images the way we want them.
