It would be easy to provide a recitation of the treaties and battles of World War II, as most history books do, but I hope to bring some of this history to life by introducing more of the human element—the good, the bad, and the ugly. This book is meant to be a general work of history and not a military history, so I will not go into great detail about the strategy and prosecution of individual battles.
