As you’re finishing your film, you’ll be eager to show it to audiences. At first this might be your family and friends, but at some point, they won’t be enough. You’ll want to see your movie on the big screen with an audience primarily made up of people who don’t know you and who will be honest and spontaneous in their reactions.
Though finding a distributor is often the ultimate goal, most filmmakers try to build audience through “word of mouth” and generate interest in their films by showing the film on their own. In other words, it’s time to make the popcorn!
