The financial markets love advance warnings, and early signals for industrial production are no exception. An important early barometer for manufacturing at the national level is a private survey conducted by the Institute for Supply Management (or ISM). The ISM is a nonprofit organization that supports supply management professionals with research, promotional activities, and education.
