Set Up Informational Interviews
Informational interviews are great ways to build your network. While it’s not a good idea to flat out ask for a job during informational interviews (its purpose is, by definition, information gathering), many employees throughout government will be willing to give you a little bit of their time and some free advice.
The federal government does not have any formal system for informational interviews, but that shouldn’t stop you from setting them up on your own through your network.
It’s always best to do informational interviews in person, so be willing to go the extra mile for these conversations—literally.
