Defining Entry-Level

Entry-level typically refers to jobs that do not require a great amount of experience. Some entry-level positions are considered “trainee” jobs in which new hires learn the details of the job from more experienced colleagues or supervisors or through classroom or job training.
As you learned in Chapter 4, you are eligible for many of the lower GS levels if you have at least a high school diploma. Most jobs from the GS-1 to GS-4 levels are clerical and administrative support positions.
