Public vs. Private Sector

Finding and applying for entry-level federal jobs requires a higher level of personal effort than in the public sector. Blame it on a lack of centralized information and active recruitment, but if you want the job, you are going to have to dig a little deeper to put in additional time and effort.
Entry-level jobs in the private sector are much more visible; you have no doubt seen tons of private-sector job postings or perhaps seen recruiters from various companies on your campus. On the other hand, federal agencies may not have been on your radar, since many agencies have somewhat limited resources for launching mass recruiting campaigns.
