In some businesses, it’s easy to connect employees and customers. In many instances, employee and customer contact is often necessary and unavoidable—think grocery stores, retail location, restaurants, health-care providers, and so forth. In some work settings, however, customers and employees don’t have regular contact, or perhaps any contact at all.
An employee who works third shift in a manufacturing facility has little or no opportunity to interact with customers. The same goes for the overnight worker in the medical laboratory or the long-distance trucker who spends most of his time alone in his vehicle.
