One of the reasons that some people don’t like parliamentary procedure is that they think it must be all or nothing—they believe that you have to use all of it or you should ignore it completely.
Even Henry M. Robert recognized that it’s important to adapt his rules to meet the needs of the group. Keep in mind, however, that the rules are intended to protect the rights of the members. If your adaptation of the rules infringes upon any members’ rights (not just those members who agree with you), the adaptation is unacceptable.
