What Is Facebook, Anyway?

Facebook is a free (so far, anyway), online, social-networking venue, where friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances can mingle, get to know one another better, and expand their social circles.
After you register and log in to Facebook, as explained in the following section, you can invite people you know to join you on Facebook and become your friend.
