Knowing What It Means to Be a Friend
On Facebook, your friends have benefits that others on Facebook may not have, depending on your privacy settings (see Chapter 6). They can read your Profile, for example, and follow discussions among you and your other friends. When you “friend” someone on Facebook, you give them access to information about yourself and your friends that could be sensitive or confidential, so you’d better have a pretty clear idea of who your friends are and what you’re sharing with them before you start adding people to your inner circle.
