Among themselves, lawyers semi-jokingly ask, “How much justice can the client afford?” Sadly, it’s not much of a joke. Even if the attorney provides free services, the courts charge money to hear your case and for every request (motion) you make along the way. Getting justice also requires work that we tend to take for granted; we forget that making copies and phone calls, sending mail and messages, and getting places costs money.
