Paying Legal Fees
You might have been paying fees throughout your case on a monthly basis. Or you might have paid a retainer up front and had the fees deducted from that amount as they were earned. You might have had a combination of both, or you might have paid nothing up to this point. See Chapter 5 for a more thorough discussion of what kinds of fees exist and how they’re generally paid. This section discusses paying for the other side’s legal fees at the end of the trial, and how to deal with paying legal fees when you’ve had a contingent fee agreement with your attorney.
