As we talked about in Chapter 1, the terms “social media” and “social networks” are often used interchangeably. For our discussions, we defined social networks as community and social media as content. Of course, this gets muddled because communities form within social content sites. Occasionally you’ll even see all-content communities called “social media networks.” As we move through this chapter think of social media as any site other than your own network that includes content of interest to your community, even if that content is unrelated to your topic.
