Unfortunately, the state side of the equation is much more difficult to complete. States do need to have the detail by employee name and Social Security number because they need this information to manage the unemployment records.
Some states have you file the detail as part of a quarterly wage and tax report; others have a simple report for the state income tax and a more detailed report for unemployment. In Chapter 15, we showed you how employers from Georgia could file their unemployment report online.
