Installing a Printer on Your Network
The steps for installing a printer on your network depend on the printer and how it’s connected to the network:
• Network printer: If your printer is connected to the router or is a wireless printer, you install it as a network printer, meaning all networked computers access the printer independently (not through another computer).
• Shared printer: If your printer is connected to one of your networked computers—for example, with a USB cable—you can set it up as a local printer and then share it. Other computers on the network can then access the printer through this computer.
