The web is in a constant state of flux. Different browsers and even different versions of the same browser vary in their support for the latest HTML and CSS standards. HTML5 and CSS3 compound the problem by being so new and perhaps even in development as you read this.
Making a site cross-browser compatible and future-proofing it can be a very complicated chore in itself, but you can employ a few basic strategies without too much effort, as explained in the following sections.
