You can use lists in a number of ways—to present step-by-step instructions, an outline, key points or details, or even a collection of links. HTML enables you to create two types of lists: ordered (typically numbered) and unordered (typically bulleted).
The following sections introduce the tags required to create ordered and unordered lists.
Getting Unorderly with Unordered Lists
To create an unordered list, bracket the list with an opening and closing <ul> tag, and bracket each list item with an opening and closing <li> tag, like so:
