What Is HTML, Anyway?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the ugliness behind every web page that enables browsers to display the page in all its glory. To see what I mean by this, use your browser to display a web page you think looks pretty good and then view its source code. To view the source code in Internet Explorer, for example, click Page, View Source. Figure 2.1 pulls the mask off source code.
