Managing Global Projects
Having a project manager who must manage a global project is not as unique as it used to be. I am defining a “global project” as one that crosses boundaries between countries and is staffed by people from those countries. They often have different languages (although fortunately for many of us, the common language of business is English), and they certainly have different cultures.
Global projects, by their very nature, require a high level of sensitivity and awareness by the project manager. What may seem totally acceptable in one culture will not be acceptable elsewhere. You need to consider these areas when you face the management of a global project.
