Breaking Your Project into Bite-Sized Pieces
Often taking the form of a tree diagram or an outline, a WBS is a hierarchical chart used to organize the project’s required activities into related areas. You can also use the completed WBS for budgeting and personnel-selection purposes as well as scheduling (see Chapter 11) and network diagramming (see Chapter 10).
Organization is crucial in the WBS. On a large project, organizing related areas into milestones or subprojects makes it easier to visualize the overall project without getting into the details.
