It’s All About You

People who are nervous about promoting their business—whether a solo shop or a PR person who’s uncomfortable with this “conversation” business—tend to Tweet primarily about what they are selling. It’s far more effective (and also easier) to Tweet about what the company is doing.

When you Tweet about your business, make it useful. Give advice. Show how you have solved problems for other people. Demonstrate that you are wonderful human beings who deserve their trust (or at least a smile). Give people a reason to like you and to be interested in what you say—which, every so often, includes “Look what we have to sell.”
