An easy way to master the art of decision-making is to follow the simple, 10-step process described in the following sections each time you have a difficult choice to make.

1. Assess the importance of the decision. Is this a major- or minor-league decision you’re facing? If it’s minor, ask yourself how much of your time and mental energy it deserves. Procrastinators often get bogged down in the small stuff. If the matter is fairly trivial, then you should probably just do something and not worry too much about exactly what it is you’re doing. Or maybe you can delegate the decision-making to someone else. If it’s important, then you need to pay close attention to the steps that follow.
