Company Reports (Financially) Tell All

Publically traded companies must provide detailed reports to investors and the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). These documents contain the three financial statements I discuss in this chapter. The most familiar of these documents is the annual report, which companies are required to file at the end of their fiscal year. Most companies have a fiscal year that coincides with the calendar year; however, some start their fiscal year in months other than January. Apple, Inc., for example, has a fiscal year that ends on September 24.
