Simple Surfing with the Internet Explorer App

You’ve seen in a few places so far in the book that the Windows 8 apps tend to be scaled-down versions of their desktop cousins. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, since even a scaled-down app can still be useful and fun. That applies in spades to the Internet Explorer app, because even though it’s much simpler than the desktop version, it still gets you from web point A to web point B.

Feel free to click the Internet Explorer tile on the Start screen. Internet Explorer loads and presents you (most likely) with an almost entirely blank screen. Use the box at the bottom of the screen to type a web address, and then press Enter. Internet Explorer loads the page, just like that.
