Most of us have heard of SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder – but are less aware that there are millions of people affected by the ‘sub-syndrome’. They don’t have SAD, but they feel exhausted all winter.

Before electricity, our ancestors’ life changed completely as they went through the winter. Lack of daylight affected every part of their lives. Now we can work and play round the clock; the lack of light need never impinge on our ‘lifestyle’.

But that doesn’t mean that lack of daylight doesn’t have a profound effect on us.
