How can you tell the difference between the sort of tiredness that means you’ve been overdoing it and the sort of tiredness that means you’re ill?

Action plan

1 If persistent tiredness is accompanied by pain or unexplained weight loss, you should see your doctor as soon as possible for a check-up. The two most overlooked causes of unexplained tiredness are reaction to medication (including alternative therapies) – and not realising you’re pregnant. Discount both first.
