73. Don’t give up giving up
Quitting for good might seem like climbing Everest. With careful planning, Everest is climbed all the time, and sometimes without oxygen masks. Breaking down stopping into stages can bring the seemingly impossible within your grasp.
Why did you start smoking? To fit in? To look cool? To be grown up? What still applies? What else have you found that smoking does to you, and is it nice? Only you will know the answers to these questions, so why not jot them down? Once you have a list of all the reasons why you want to give up smoking, put the list in your packet and read it through before you light up. Don’t deny yourself any cigarettes at this stage.
