Of all of the required counselor education courses, the career development or career counseling course is often one of the most dreaded by students. Based on their self-disclosures, my perception of their dread is that the course will be boring, dry, contain repetition of materials they learned in high school through school-to-work programs, or that the course will consist of 15 weeks of learning to write a résumé. Argh! Who would want to teach that course?
