Fundamental Flaws

In September 2017, I presented at Becker’s 3rd Annual Health IT and Revenue Cycle Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. The conference, one of the industry’s largest, attracted more than 2,000 registered attendees with a massive exhibit floor dominated by revenue cycle companies. About 200 people attended my session, which I started by asking a series of questions.

“How many of you work at revenue cycle companies?”

About half raised their hands.

“How many of you have booths on the exhibit floor?”

The same people raised their hands again.

“How many of you saw a cost accounting company on the exhibit floor?”

Not a single person raised a hand.
