The great emotional and spiritual sensitivity that emanate from Vincent van Gogh’s paintings caused serious disruptions in his personal life. For example, after losing the friendship of fellow painter Paul Gauguin, van Gogh’s mental health declined so dramatically that he committed himself to a mental health asylum in the town of Saint-Remy.
