CHAPTER 8Service Types and Transports

A service type represents a message format type. OSB supports the following service types: SOAP or XML defined by a WSDL file, SOAP without a WSDL file, and XML without a WSDL file. You can also set a messaging type of binary, text, MFL, or XML.

A transport protocol is a protocol that is used to transport messages from sender to receiver. JMS, EJB, and HTTP are some examples of transport protocols.

This chapter examines various combinations of service types and transport protocols.
