Formula Fields
As you probably noticed when creating fields for the Location and Position objects, another data type available for Force Platform fields is the formula. A formula field is a field that is calculated from other data, frequently using Force Platform functions to massage that data.
A formula field is available on a page and for reports like any other fields; however, since the value is calculated, a formula field is automatically read-only and never appears on an insert or update page.
