Blending Layers Using Layer Styles
Double-clicking a layer entry outside the layer name or thumbnail displays the following dialog. You can also display this dialog by clicking the Add a Layer Style button at the bottom of the Layers panel, or using Layer ▸ Layer Style.

The Blend if sliders A and B are a useful tool when adjusting layer styles. In our previous example, we produced too much shadow and highlight contrast while improving overall contrast. You can avoid producing this type of effect by using the following settings:
